I feed my dogs BB, but I am just wondering which food everyone is changing their dogs to? Everyone on this thread is saying they stopped feeding their dogs BB because of issues their dogs have with the food, but nobody ever says to what food they’ve changed their dogs to. How do you do the research and decide? More importantly, almost every reviewed dog food on this site has a thread very similar to this one complaining about horrible reactions their dogs are having to those other foods. It seems like it happens with every food, so how do you decide and what have people changed to?

Another cause of not eating well would be any of a range of swallowing disorders. there’s a good video on canine swallowing disorders on youtubecreated by Dr Stanley Marks DVM at UC Davis , GI tract expert with great interest in such disorders.. megaesophagus would be included in this categoryAnother method to know for megaesophagus is use of the “Bailey Chair” which supports the dog in a position where his spine and espophagus are upright in a vertical position, thus gravity helps the pureed food move downwards.. One can find plans for building such a chair on the Web.

Hi, was just checking out your website and dog food recipe! We have two Akita’s, ( they are mix of Akita, Sheperd and Chow) Brother’s! We feed them once in the morning and once in the evening, we keep a can in the dry food bag, ( was a vegtable can) and each dog gets a full can of (14oz.) dry food each feeding. We have been feeding them Nutro Plus.
The biggest of two dogs 127 lbs, would like more, but we don’t give it to him. The other dog is pretty close to 100 lbs. and is a very picky eater, sometimes we have to add things to get him to eat. My question is, do we need to feed them twice a day? We always have and have had them since they were pups! We would like to feed them better, I think I may try your dog food recipe. Do you think feeding once a day will be better for them? If we do go to once a day, should we start that right away or gradually get them used to the idea of once a day feedings? So confused on how to get started! Also, with your dogfood recipe, would you feed the serving size for the large dogs all at once or break it into two feedings? so many questions!
Thank you, Pam

Ava is my second “keeper”. Ava is a typical English type lab; very square, blocky, short and stocky with large muscle and a calm demeanor. She’s chocolate, totally self-assured and has an awesome presence. People who really know Labs often comment on how beautiful and well put together she is. She loves everyone, but when she barks an alarm that a stranger has arrived she truly can make the hair stand up on the back of your neck unless you see her tail also wagging wildly. Ava had spent her first 2 yrs of life in a 5 x 10 kennel; the pet of a young man who simply lost interest in her. When she came to me, she decided she enjoys being with other dogs and being a beloved pet, so is a very happy girl. She and Chip together produce litters that are all chocolate with the potential to turn cafe au lait with age.
